'From nature's perspective, a garden is any environment that is initiated by humans, given its purpose and direction by humans and maintained with the help of humans.'
How will it be done?
This garden is both a project of giving as well as a project of listening. I will begin by setting a direction/purpose/meaning to what it is I want to create with this garden and start a practice of meditation to listen and be guided by Nature. This Nature guidance will hopefully offer me the form and organization. Nature will tell me what shape the garden will take, what I will plant, when, how to maintain everything, etc. So this will be a garden based on listening, intuition and openness. It will require a lot of patience and time and a resolve to leave my Will behind. I honestly have no idea how big the garden will be, what kind of garden it will be, or even how many different gardens might be created.
I am seeking to establish a new relation to Nature, to myself, to my surroundings and to others who want to participate. I seek to experience the relationship between energy and form in a framework of action.
I will require help from my friends and colleagues and any volunteers to build and maintain the garden.
'We realize it is easy for man to think of a plant as a thing, perhaps as living, but nonetheless a thing, for he cuts himself off from the vision that sees beyond the physical, just as he cuts himself off from his own inner being which is so vast,'
Western attitudes about plant intelligence are changing — dramatically. Not long ago, Nature was “dumb” and people were “smart.” But through a mix of rigorous academic research and subtle, intuitive observation, a lively discussion is emerging about Nature and consciousness.
The new paradigm recasts how we relate to and understand Nature, and it is supported by recent scientific evidence. Plants instruct us through their behavior, through their interdependence with the environment, and through direct transmissions conveyed by spirit. As we grow more sensitive to the ways plants communicate with us, we encounter the depth of their wisdom, and become more capable of receiving the many kinds of healing they have to offer.
