There are countless ways of existing with each other if we assume our body does not end with our skin.
This laboratory and shared practice will focus on how to live the formulations of the body fully and not fall into traps of representation. We will set out to develop a mutateable body that has the possibility to unfold in many ways and at the same time remain attentive to its shifting meaning.
To start the day we will offer a 2 hour training that aims to undo the habits of the body and expand its current comfort zone. We will use our artistic practice; which is devoted to an extreme physicality that is in constant negotiation with a philosophical and often esoteric discourse, as a base to explore different ranges of physical interaction oscillating between organic and social. This exploration will be used for creating material and encourage performative confidence. It will lead us to a territory of no hierarchy and a presence where desire will become so numerous that only a mobile body and agile mind will be able to negotiate them in the immediate.
In this workshop we will focus on breathing as a unifying force, using our practice from the duet work "What they are instead of" as a base to explore different ranges of physical interaction oscillating between organic and social.
To start the day we will offer a 2 hour training that aims to undo the habits of the body and expand its current comfort zone.
From there we will work with a practice we call 'unconditional love'. This 'exploration of relation' to time, space and the other will be used for creating material and encourage performative confidence. It will lead us to a territory of no hierarchy. The exercise triggers the bodies virtuosity in reacting to your emerging desires. We will find that these desires will become so numerous that only a mobile body will be able to negotiate them in the immediate.
Afterwards, we will share our personal working process more concretely by working with the breath as a connecting phenomenon that leads us to a point 'beyond intimacy'. This includes searching for verbal language that allows for us to speak about our experiences.
'If you could hear what my brain sounded like…'
The work of Gradinger and Schubot is circling around identity: the loss of it, the dissolution of the borders of the skin and a world beyond intimacy. The forum will concentrate on starting points of artistic processes: chaotic beginnings. This time will give room to the unexplored bizarre desires that lead one to an artistic work. Together we will search for ways to embody these often neglected thoughts and attempt to bring them to life. We will use the anarchy of thought and begin to bring it into order and only then start to treat these moments with a choreographic interest and specific body work.
